To think..the Welshman thought today was going to be good.
Alwyn had been doing what he normally did around this time, preparing for afternoon in the kitchen, and making a small snack for the youngest guest family member in the house. A small smile made it's way to his lips, as he began setting the small plate of sweets on the silver tray beside his cup of tea. This hour was his favorite, because it was just him and little Peter together. His little brother was sweet, and he loved eating the sweets he made him without complaint. The boy was also a joy just to have around, and honestly it made the big brother-maternal instincts in him content to have a little one sitting beside him and enjoying his company. Usually, they would also have story time...or Peter would just like to play make-believe with his stuffed toys. As he finished setting up the tray, he placed an extra tea cup, in case one of the other younger guests decided to join him...but he honestly doubted it. Usually, Adina was not one for tea..though he would probably pop up asking for some of the cookies he made. With that done he picked up the tray and headed for the living room where his little brother was waiting. Smiling, he set it down on the small table in front of the couch. "Snack time Peter, I made-"
Knock-knock
He paused, looking up at the hallway that lead to the front door. No one came around at this time, or at least not anyone he would know. Arthur was working, discussing plans or whatever their boss made him do. Hamish was busy, and he usually called up before arriving. Alwyn's own boss never dropped by, and honestly he didn't know a lot of people himself who would come over uninvited. Though, it seemed the person was not going to leave because another knock sounded. Sighing, he stood up and patted Peter's head. "One moment, ducky. I have to get the door." Fixing his shirt, he strode towards the door and unlocked the latch, with a neutral expression on his face he opened to door to the unexpected person. "Good af-" His eyes widened and his expression melted into one shock at seeing a very familiar and not very welcoming face. Gripping the door knob, his eyes narrowed in slight anger. "Sweden..."
Through the years Alwyn had never been a fan of the Nordics. Mostly because he knew many had hurt Hamish, as well as Arthur himself..whether Berwald had been part of them he never knew. But he hadn't been a fan, and the fact that the tall and intimidating looking blonde standing on the Kirkland's doorstep was on good terms with Germany did not help the Welshman have any friendly feelings about him. Sure, they had a treaty with the German Empire...but it was because of that Arthur would always be stressed or worrying. Be friendly, be polite..he isn't Germany. Plus I can't have him knowing I hate the Reich members he mentally reminded before calming himself. "Sweden, I mean Berwald...what can I do for you?"
At first everything was normal. He'd been woken, up and had breakfast with his big brothers. Got to say hello to the other younger person living here, Adina, and then he'd carefully made his way to his favorite room. The snack room! Usually, whenever he and big brother Alwyn had food in this part of the house, Peter would get to hear a story. Or they got to play, and then nap time came soon after. Which is why he was patiently waiting on the big couch, which was tall and was quite a climb for someone of his height, and difficult getting up properly. But patiently he sat there, his light colored bear Winnie on his lap as he held it close and chatted with him.
"Big bwotha Alwyn is making our favorite Winnie. Honey and peanut butta."
He paused, turning the bear to look at him. It's little black eyes looked at him, and he could imagine Winnie being excited about the snack. Honey was Winnie's favorite, and Peter's too, so he always shared with Winnie. The blonde boy beamed and nodded at the bear, "Yep, we will share. But I hope I don't have to drink that wata..too hot." He stuck his tongue out at the thought. His big brother Arthur said it was called tea, and everyone in the house drank it because it was the best. Peter tasted it once when Arthur had left the room, but he didn't like it. The drink made his tongue hurt! It was also very..bleh tasting. Of course it was because he was a child, and of course tea would be too strong for him.
Peter's attention was drawn away from his riveting conversation with Winnie once Alwyn came in, with a friendly smile and the familiar fancy tray. The boy smiled, seeing the pretty tray that had his snack and a little cup of milk. Along with a very big..pot and other cups on it. Probably more of that tea stuff. He thought, very glad he didn't have to drink it. "Snack time Peter! I made-" At the knock Peter jumped a bit, hugging Winnie close at the sudden interruption. His eyes wide, and slightly rattled because...was there a stranger here? His nervousness was not eased when Alwyn left to answer the door...and he didn't say his usual loud 'greeting'. He got more nervous when he hadn't returned.. Is big brother hurt? He thought, hugging Winnie close to him. The child hoped his big brother was okay...curious, and concerned the boy quietly slid off the couch and made his way to the door and peaked out into the hallway. He wanted to see who had diverted his brothers attention, and to see if the person was a good stranger or a bad one.
