United Kingdom and British Empire, two words that seemed to mean the same thing to most of the other empires of the world yet within the United Kingdom they were far from each other. England, the youngest of the siblings and one not holding any true relations, was who all saw as the figure head of the union but it wasn’t truly accurate. Each of the nations that made up the union were their own beings even if two seemed to hold more of the power. Scotland and England at times were almost more similar to Prussia and Germany, both running the empire together closer to equals once the elder agreed to leave his alliance with France. It was agreed upon to allow England to attend meeting in place of them all instead four nations attending each meeting, it risked far too much in appearance to have disagreements while in public.
Things were different when stepping foot in the United Kingdom, within the islands there were not such a clear line of control as the siblings seemed willing to fight and harm each other when eyes were turned. As Arthur had found himself away from his desk Hamish decided to replace his brother. Leaning back in the chair he kept himself busy going through the papers Arthur foolishly left strewed about his desk that ranged from business matters, Hamish was more than aware about those, to letters from another nation it seemed Arthur had gotten a bit cozy with. Laughing softly he scanned through letters picking out little information he would tease his brother. Keeping his back toward the door he attempt to keep the stressed blonde from becoming aware of the snooping the ginger seemed to busy himself with. Had anyone come to speak with Arthur it wasn’t difficult to be a stand-in. They all deserved a break at some point, Arthur more than most.
It seemed the only reason the United Kingdom remained as it had was dude to that actions of the once hated nation of England. Invited to join the Reich he refused allowing his siblings to cling to a power that might stave off their deaths for a bit longer. It was bound to happen wasn’t it? The Celtic nations taken by anther and destroyed. History repeats and it seemed this was the goal when the Celtic were chased from the mainland before taking over the island where the Celtic siblings all resided. There end would come but for now it was a simple matter that could be ignored, no one could make Hamish admit he was aware of his fate. Having grown during the age of the ancients, during the years when Rome grew to power and took the reign of Europe, Hamish wouldn’t argue that he hadn’t lived far longer than expected. During this time he watched many nations grow around the world and be what they were before the Germans turned their world to the current hell.
Lost in his thought it took a moment for Hamish to notice the soft click of a door closing as someone entered. Did the door often close with such little noise? No, Hamish often slammed it but he knew normally there was a creak with the door unless you braced it properly when attempting to close the door. Hooking his foot a small kick allowed the chair to spin facing in toward the foolish man that decided to enter without so much of a knock. Red hair flipped forward with the spinning motion only for a pale hand to take the hair flipping it back over his shoulder. Stopping his hair once he faced the door he folded a foot over his lap preparing himself to tear into the fool that dared to enter without so much of a knock against the door. Where he expected a member of the parliament to stand if not his boss was someone of much smaller stature. Clearly Asian and with feminine qualities, not a women just what he would consider a nation that found worth in not working with their own hands. Chewing his lip he tried to put a name to the nation, memory had been failing him when it came to naming all the nations that seemed to visit Arthur far too frequently for Hamish’s taste.
“Wha dae ye think yer inviting yersel' in tae disturb mah brother?” Harsh words were said in a soft voice as if he was not sure who he was currently scolding.
