Feliciano had left again for work, in the child's mind it seemed that everyday was a working day for her brother.
She wasn't exactly sure of what his job was but the child could tell that it was quite important. Why else would Feliciano be leaving home so often? In any case the Northern Italian never answered her questions on what he actually did, ever since her brother's got a new Boss, Feliciano was away often leaving for Africa to do his job. Her eldest brother Lovino, wasn't any better at answering the questions that intrigued her mind. One day, Lucia wondered if she too could see the supposedly huge empire that her brother's had created. However that time wasn't now, Feliciano insisted that it was too unsafe for her to go to the new territories... According to her brother, bad people were trying to take little girls like her away! Lucia wisely decided to be patient for the time being.
With Feliciano gone, it left her with Lovino her favorite brother. Lucia didn't exactly want to play favorites between her two brothers, but recently Feliciano had become a little... Cold. Something about him didn't seem the same anymore. Lovino fortunately hadn't changed, though he did seem a little sadder, maybe that was because he had gotten many bruises from falling down the stairs. Lucia didn't realise that someone could get hurt so badly from falling down a staircase. Lovino was very silly, he seemed to be very clumsy... Though Lucia never really remembered the Southern Italian to be so accident prone... Adults were weird.
In the kitchen, Lucia was happily getting her typical breakfast that the small micronation had these days. Though she used to have fish on bread, she found that cookies with milk was quite a delicious meal as well. Placing the cookie jar on the table, she carefully got out two cookies... The last time she grabbed three, the incident ended with Lovino having to tell her why it was naughty to lie. Lucia was scared of making her brother's disappointed or angry. It gave her a sick feeling in her head and stomach and made her want to curl up into a ball and disappear... But sometimes she just couldn't help it!
Lucia waited in anticipation for Lovino to enter the kitchen, sometimes her brother was such a sleepy head! That was when she got an idea.... Suddenly running as fast as her little legs could go, she stopped outside of Lovino's room and shouted:
"LOVINO! PLEASE STOP BEING A SLEEPY HEAD! IT'S TIME TO WAKE UP!!!!!" Southern Italy

The Italian residence was once a peaceful place. Before the world wars, before the violence in the household, before everything that caused Lovino's life to turn upside down, it was a safe haven for the Southern Italian. The house was filled with calm laughter that echoed on for days on, one that perhaps nations around were perhaps even, slightly jealous of. It all came crashing down when Feliciano seemed to become possessed by some demon and brought the abuse back home. Perhaps he was one who couldn't separate his work from his personal life; admittedly there were quite a few nations Lovino could list off that shared this unfortunate habit with his brother, but never did he feel he would have to be the one to deal with it on his own.
That isn't to say that everything in the house had become rotten. No, there were days where Feliciano would leave on his own for work (quite often, actually), and Lovino was left on his own to watch their baby sister. Such a precious child she was; Lovino easily would've fought with anyone to argue that she was the sweetest angel to exist. Despite the claims Feliciano made saying she needed to learn how to fight, the elder brother disagreed greatly. He wanted her to stay the innocent baby of the family forever, as long as he could control such situation. So naturally, he didn't think much ill of having to be the one to stay home and watch her while Feliciano went out and about to take care of errands the nation needed.
Will all above mentioned, however, there was still a single problem regarding playing the nanny of the house. Lovino felt demoted from a respected nation to an everyday nanny regarding their family arrangements, and that was not something he was quite comfortable with just yet. The southern counterpart doubted the northern expected too much out of him; he couldn't clean worth a damn, so even if Feliciano were to ask he would've had to expect the house to be a tornado upon his arrival. So Lovino just did as he assumed was expected of him; take care of the kid and not cause unnecessary trouble for the obvious leader of the household. Pushing past the fact Lovino was indeed the elder brother, it was clear as day who wore the title of the Italian Empire ruler.
"LOVINO! PLEASE STOP BEING A SLEEPY HEAD! IT'S TIME TO WAKE UP!!!!!"
Hearing the high pitched young voice made Lovino cringe in bed. He brought his pillow above his head and buried his face into the sheets under, groaning softly. When he was younger, he was quite the active toddler in the morning that headbutted Antonio for breakfast. As he grew older, however, such spunk left him, leaving him just as tired as any adult was in the morning. The rising sun filling his room with the bright rays was far from welcome, and Lovino almost brought the covers up as well over the pillow to block the bright torture. He groaned, calling out to the owner of the voice on the other side of the door to his room, sighing deeply right after and trying to return to his blissful slumber.
She hesitated opening the door into the room, the last thing she wanted was to be scolded for entering and annoying Lovino, yet on the other hand Lucia found it impossible to not try and shake Lovino out of bed. She was a big girl nowadays so she could feed herself quite easily, it was rather getting Lovino to wake up and to be excited for the new day.
She didn't really understand why adults wanted to stay in their beds really. After hearing Lovino tell her that he would be out soon, Lucia backed away from the door timidly still deciding whether she should risk getting in trouble... In the end she wisely decided to let Lovino sleep for another five minutes.
The sound of pattering could be heard as the child's socks hit the ground while Lucia ran back to the kitchen, pulling out some coloring books to entertain herself while she munched on cookies. She didn't exactly like eating alone, especially in her own family's home but this situation was only getting more and more common as the days passed.
These days Lucia barely saw Feliciano, she only saw the Northern Italian in the early morning or if she was being sneaky, in the late night. While her door was closed she could sometimes here shouting inside the house between her two elder brothers.
Despite pulling out her coloring books and barely turning the front page, Lucia ran back to Lovino's room again. Carefully opening the door, Lucia peeked into the room. Trying to be as silent as possible, she tip toed into the room and eventually stopped right next to Lovino's side. Soon she found herself patting his head gently.

The silence that followed after the soft pattering of socks on in the hall was something Lovino was happy about. He loved his mornings stay peaceful, and these days it was hard to come by such days. Despite having told his little sister it was only going to be a five-minute extension of his sleep, he wanted to just stay in bed forever. He kept his face buried in the fluffed pillow and closed his eyes fully once more, drifting back to a blissful slumber... Only to be dragged out of the moment when he heard the soft noises return.
Lovino didn't lift his head, already knowing it was just Lucia coming back. As always, he told himself in his mind, this was just something that seemed to happen whenever he was left alone with the little girl all day in the absence of Feliciano. As sneaky as the child tried to be, Lovino returned the favor by pretending to stay asleep, until he heard the voice speak up right next to him. The small hand that reached over to pat his head made him flinch at first instinctively before he forced himself to relax once more.
"Lovi~ Can you please wake up?"
The male finally peeked out from the canvas of his pillow, letting his still hazy olive hue to lock on his baby sister. Already dressed, cookie crumbs on her cheeks, a milk-mustache under her nose, her hair barely brushed... In short, she was a humorous mess. Clearly, she tried to take care of her morning routine herself and failed to complete or correctly follow through all the steps needed to be an independent adult. The thought alone caused Lovino to grin from behind the pillow. She should stay innocent forever.
"I thought I said five minutes...?" Lovino decided to ask back, pushing himself up regardless after gently pushing her hand away from his head before the small fingers can run against his curl. That would be one awkward conversation he would have to take part in if she sees him act up because of such tiny mistake. "It couldn't have gone by that fast-... Lucia, go like this." He paused in the middle of his miniature complaint to wipe his mouth with the back of his hand, figuring he could at least tell her to clean the milk on her face to begin with. "I see you already had breakfast, at least... Did Feliciano already leave?"
She felt a little awkward when Lovino fixed his eyes upon her. He didn't look at her in any threatening way, Lucia could just feel a slight unease getting Lovino's attention all of a sudden. Her efforts to try carry out her daily ritual of the morning hadn't exactly gone to plan, for some reason it didn't feel the same as how Lovino did everything, however Lucia was quite honestly a little lazy today, usually she would have taken a little more consideration when brushing her hair.
It was still so odd to see Lovino still in bed, it was as if her elder brother just wanted to sleep everyday! In contrast Feliciano almost seemed to be active each day doing whatever he was doing. Sometimes Lucia wondered why Lovino never did what her Northern Italian brother did, but it was of no concern to her, in Lucia's opinion it was much better having Lovino here instead of being alone.
"It is five minutes, I counted!"
In reality Lucia had quickly counted five seconds, but they were the same as minutes, right? Mimicking Lovino's action, she was a little surprised to find a small amount of milk on her little fingers, however soon her attention was once again fixed on Lovino as he continued speaking.
"Mhm, Feliciano's gone and I had breakfast all by myself! I had breakfast while you were asleep!"
At least eating breakfast was one thing she could do alone without the help of her elder brothers. Granted, she ate a light breakfast but to Lucia it was a way to show both Feliciano and Lovino that she was growing up, slowly, but growing nonetheless.

Lovino couldn't help but to have to hold back a groan when he was told that his sister 'counted' the minutes. No wonder it seemed so short; knowing her, she probably only counted five seconds and considered it as such. Regardless, when mentioned Feliciano already left, he pushed himself up slowly on the bed and stretched his aching muscles. At this point he was uncertain whether he ached from the bruises or from common cramps that came from oversleeping; either way, it was an uncomfortable experience. A few joints popped before he relaxed once more and put his feet down on the floor beside the bed, making sure he wouldn't accidentally slam his legs against his sister in the process.
"You counted...?" He started first, yawning and rubbing the back of his neck slightly, still trying to wake up fully from his drowsed state. "I doubt that... Remember when Feliciano told you that each minute was 60 whole seconds? Five minutes is..." He stopped himself there, the number sadly not coming immediately to his mind in his half-asleep brain. Looking back once he would be awake this would be an easy question, but for now, the multiplication was not working with him. "...A lot of seconds." He muttered to his sister, sighing right after. He moved himself to the drawers and opened up on of the many shelves from it, pulling out a simple oversized t-shirt and pulling it over his head. At least he learned to sleep with his boxers on ever since the little one started being around the house. It took a few awkward cover ups before he finally learned the simple lesson of doing so.
"What did you have for breakfast?" Lovino asked his sister once the shirt was on, already moving out the room to grab himself something to munch on as an excuse for breakfast as well. He wasn't one to eat much in the morning, so if Lucia could only tell him she had an adequate amount of food, then he was good as well for just munching on a fruit or treat and call it his first meal of the day. Ignoring Cosmo that meowed and jumped onto the kitchen counter demanding some leftovers from the fridge, the elder brother gave one more tired yawn as he waited for his sister's response.
